Financial support (registration grants)

Please note that applications for registration grants are now closed.

As is our tradition, IAVS has allocated substantial funding to support the participation of IAVS members in financial need through our Global Sponsorship Committee. This support will cover all or a part of the registration fee for eligible students and researchers.

Application rules and selection criteria

• Applicant must be a member of IAVS and give oral or poster presentation at the symposium.
• Even though payment for registration is temporarily not available, please proceed with membership registration by filling the form provided here and emailing it to membership@iavs.org. Once the payment for registration fee becomes available, we will inform you. Sorry for this inconvenience.
• Evaluation by committee members is based on a) motivation letter (+CV) and b) abstract. The evaluation is done on scale 0 (poor) to 5 (excellent).
• The final evaluation is including also professional age criteria: graduate (MSc or PhD) student = 5, post-doc = 4, researcher/professor/other = 2. This will be added to the table in the end.
• The final calculation is based on the average from abstract + motivation letter/CV + professional age, with the following weights: abstract 2/5, motivation & CV 2/5, professional age 1/5.
• The award would cover the complete cost of the registration fee.
• Receiving symposium travel grants in previous years does not affect receiving the registration grant for this year's symposium. Also, receiving this registration grant will have no influence on the amount participants can obtain when applying for future travel grant applications for standard in-person Symposia

Applicants should submit for evaluation:

• A motivation letter and a brief CV (submit through the dedicated grant application form here: https://form.123formbuilder.com/5918143/form). In the motivation letter (maximum 1 page), explain why you want to attend the IAVS Symposium, its possible benefits to your future research, and if applicable, how previous experiences/success with other conferences have helped your research. State clearly that you have no or only partial financial support from your institution for attending the IAVS Symposium. If you do have other support, state the amount in Euros.
